Crown Hall Farm wedding venue - a photographer’s review

Crown Hall Farm wedding venue - a photographer’s review

Crown Hall Farm is a beautiful wedding venue near Spalding that launched in summer 2021. It’s also easily accessible from Peterborough, Lincoln and Rutland.

As one of their approved photographers I was honoured to be asked by Natalie and Lewis, the owners of Crown Hall Farm, to photograph their venue before it launched. I thought it would be helpful to give a photographer’s review on what I love about this venue.

If you’ll excuse the pun, its ‘crowing’ glory is the stunning outdoor ceremony location which overlooks their private lake. Outdoor ceremonies are conducted on the boathouse which has tiered seating giving everyone a perfect view.

Crown Hall farm is a peaceful and romantic setting in the countryside outside Spalding

A wedding venue surrounded by nature

Crown Hall Farm is perfect if you want a rustic wedding surrounded by nature, combined with the comfort of an air conditioned marquee which seats up to 150 guests. On warm summer evenings we can tie back the sides of the marquee to help you feel even closer to nature.

Everywhere you look there are trees and flowers surrounding the lake, making it a tranquil setting for your wedding

A perfect wedding venue for photographers

The boat house ceremony setting is wonderful for giving your wedding photographs a unique look and a tranquil feel you can’t find anywhere else in the area.

I always love photographing in nature. Photographing through leaves give a romantic softness to the bride and groom photographs and the rose bushes add a splash of colour. But I also love the touch of quirkiness about the venue too because I enjoy having fun with couples and their guests. The 'sailing boat cocktail bar’ is a great feature along with the antique bus stop. The 'Indiana Jones bridge' over the lake is an ideal spot as it’s perfectly framed with leaves and reeds from several different angles.

Even the farm buildings give a fantastic rustic option for some of your photographs.

Photographers always like a bit of shade at wedding venues because harsh summer sun can be a challenge. Crown Hall Farm has plenty of trees and shady spots which prevents squinting or harsh shadows on people’s faces.

The marquee wall provides a clean backdrop for your speech photographs and the white walls and ceiling ensure skin tones remain nice and flattering in the photographs (compared with venues with coloured walls which require much more editing).

The bridge over the lake is beautifully framed on all sides by leaves and reeds making it a perfect location for several romantic or group photographs.

A sparkling evening under the stars

At night, Crown Hall Farm is lit up with fairy lights to give a magical splash of stardust. And because Crown Hall farm is out in the countryside away from light pollution your evening will unfold under a dazzling canopy of stars. Even the dance floor is black and festooned with lights to add to the atmosphere.

The service

Of course no venue would be complete without wonderful owners. Natalie and Lewis clearly care a whole lot about their clients and are so lovely to work with. Not only do they have the passion but they also have 20 years of expertise, so you'll be in good hands.

If you have an idea for a theme for your wedding they will work with you and their suppliers to make your dreams a reality.

The Marquee seats 150 people and is climate controlled so you’ll never be too hot or too cold.
