What you REALLY want from your wedding photos

What do you REALLY want from your wedding photography...?

When I first speak to an engaged couple I always ask them to describe their wedding in 3 words.

The two most common answers are ‘fun’ and ‘relaxed’.

I then I ask them what's important to them about their wedding photos and most say something like...

"We just want you to capture some natural moments and some nice professional ones where everyone looks good”.

That's absolutely fine, but let's unpick it and dig into what couples REALLY mean…

  • It means seeing your partner, your friends and your family at their very best and having a tangible reminder of why you all love each other so much.

  • It means you want every photo to make you FEEL something when you look at it.

  • It means seeing the love and connection between you and your nan as she congratulates you with a tear soaked hug

  • It means laughing your ass off at the photo of your clumsy mate Emma who's embarrassed herself yet again

  • It means looking at yourselves and thinking 'DAMN - I never knew we could look that good!'

  • It means seeing a tearful speech from your dad that reveals thoughts and feelings you never knew he had.

  • It means feeling the joy of your special day all over again because it explodes out of every photo.

  • It means having memories of all your mates dancing like marvellous morons because it reminds you of all the legendary nights out you've had together.

So yes, I will be 'capturing moments' at your wedding but it won't just be people walking and talking…

...it will be moments that remind us of what's great about being human and being alive.
