The Granary at Fawsley wedding photos - Ben and Katy

The Granary at Fawsley is perfect for wedding photos as it’s surrounded by beautiful rolling hills

Sheep pooh, teasing vicars, drinking games and children from Lord of the flies... Ben and Katy's wedding at The Granary at Fawsley was a belter! Not least because I knew how fun everyone would be since Katy was a bridesmaid at another wedding I photographed.

The ceremony was actually at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Finedon, near Wellingborough. But the reception was held at The Granary at Fawsley.

The Granary is a fantastic venue for wedding photos. It’s a wonderfully rustic wedding venue with the wedding breakfast and dance floor housed within a beautifully renovated barn that’s adorned with drapes and fairy lights to make it feel like a marquee inside. This gives you the best of both worlds - rustic on the outside and modern and comfortable on the inside.

It’s set among rolling hills in every direction and there’s plenty of outside space to relax, drink and play garden games as the sun sets.

The Granary at Fawsley can cater for up to 200 people.

Ben and Katy

When I first met with Katy and Ben over Zoom I asked them to describe their wedding in 3 words. Katy said "Boozy"... I asked her what the other two words were and she didn't feel she needed any more. :-)

...however, I'd like to add two of my own... loving and connected, because everyone clearly knew and loved each other so much. All ages, all friends and all sides of both families threw themselves into the day with spirited abandon....

…including that vicar I mentioned (Nigel), who spent the whole service teasing Katy who he'd known her whole life. Apparently his son knew her pretty well too, but that's another story...

Even the hymns were sung with gusto with Nigel the vicar using his fists to encourage the enthusiastic (and often giggling!) congregation.

As for the sheep pooh, I rolled over some while getting some of the romantic photographs. I think it was well worth it, and kudos to Ben and Katy for braving that field of filth - although Ben did sweep up Katy in his arms like the charming Adonis he is! They were both legends all day long.

The wedding was the perfect blend of…

Romance: like kissing under a golden sunset

Emotion: A deluge of tears throughout the speeches

And fun: a deluge of Prosecco as they sprayed it around the courtyard F1 style! Oh and the children used me as target practice with some squidgy stuff, which entertained them and got me some great shots.

Katy clearly demonstrating the fun element of proceedings!
