These are old woods which are predominantly broadleaf and beech in particular. This is an excellent area for bats thirteen species of bat in or within one mile of the forest

HOW TO GET TO MARLBOROUGH WOODLANDS
Via M4, at junction 15 take the A346 to Marlborough. The woods in this area are located to the south of Marlborough.

WILDLIFE AT MARLBOROUGH WOODLANDS

MAMMALS
As I've mentioned above this is an excellent area for bats but also roe, muntjac, fallow and the odd red deer can be seen in the forest. Dormice, woodmice and yellow necked mice all inhabit the local area as well as badgers and foxes.

BIRDS
There is a good variety of birds to be found in the forest. Birds of prey include the Red Kite, Hobby, Buzzard, Barn Owl, Tawny owl and Little Owl. Nightjar, Crossbills, Ravens, Woodcock, Greater Spotted and Green Woodpeckers can also be seen and heard in the woods.

INSECTS AND REPTILES
Reptiles comprise of Adders, Slow Worms and the Common Lizard. Butterflies such as the Brown Hairstreak, Whiteletter Hairstreak, White Admiral, Purple Emperor, Purple Hairstreak, Small and Large Green Veined Whites are present, plus many more common species.
