When I first met Sue Briance and Tony Wellington I asked them to describe their wedding in three words. They said 'relaxed' and 'chilled' - in fact they're so relaxed and chilled they didn't need a third word! Their wedding today at the beautiful Talbot Hotel in Oundle was as wonderfully zen as they promised. They even had a little siesta mid afternoon where half the guests went to their rooms to freshen up and the other half chilled out in the gardens with me and had a drink.

The Talbot Hotel in Oundle is an ideal wedding venue because it's gorgeous inside and out. Rain or shine, you know you're going to have beautiful wedding photographs. The courtyard garden is awash with flowers and palms and Tony knew the names of them all, being the grounds-man for Milton Hall. I made it my mission to find a plant he didn't know. I failed. However, the plants did benefit my photography and made a lovely backdrop for the group photographs.

They wanted some fun photographs to complement the more traditional ones, so I asked the bar if we could borrow some champagne and wine bottles for a tongue in cheek photograph you can check out below. It also enabled us to include the Talbot Hotel's high-backed chairs Sue really loved.

I loved the confetti bomb that James Harrington from JH Roadshow Discos exploded during the first dance. It really made for a dramatic photograph, especially when coupled with James' spotlight that gave some nice backlighting for Sue and Tony.

The cake by Louise Jonker from Heavenly Treats in Peterborough was gorgeous and I spent a happy few minutes photographing the little bees that spiralled around it, depicting the couple's love of nature and gardening.

It was an absolute pleasure and honour to be a part of their special day. I felt so welcome by everyone and it really was as relaxed and chilled as they'd hoped.

Here's the heart warming testimonial they left me:

"Dan, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you and I'm so glad we found you. The planning for our pictures was made easy and fun, with us all walking around to find some unusual backdrops. When it came to our big day we felt relaxed in your presence as we had got to know you. As a result we have lots of brilliant pictures to remind us of our beautiful day. Thank you."

Here's a small sample of the photographs I took on the day.

Photo comment By Liz Martin: Lovely photographs marking a brilliant day for them both. I particularly like the "dads" photographs! Sue looks so serene although she assures me she wasn't!
Photo comment By linda wood (nee Wellington): Wonderful photographs, Dan. Well done. The pic of my brother, Brian Wellington, is the best I've seen for many a year. It is so part of his character!
