Jake and Lisa's wedding photos at the Haycock, Wansford

This was one stormy wedding! Don't worry, I mean the weather. Jake and Lisa and all the guests were beaming rays of sunshine on one of the wettest days of the year.

The ceremony was at a lovely church in Thornhaugh, while the reception took place at the beautiful Haycock Hotel. I love creating wedding photos at the Haycock in Wansford because there are so many grande locations for producing great images. The gardens are full of floral arch ways and flower beds and the river Nene runs right past. Inside it has the grandeur of an old country house, so even while it rained we were able to get lovely images.

As with most rainy days, it didn't rain ALL day, so we kept things flexible, positive and happy. When you look at these photos you'd barely realise it had been so torrential, at times.

I started the day at Lisa's mum's beautiful home at around 11am. I photographed everyone getting ready and used the time to get lovely images of the little details (the dress, shoes, bouquet etc.) that were likely to be a little worse for wear later in the day.

As soon as we left for the church thunder cracked and lightning blazed and I feared the worst.

The ushers were studiously braving the apocalypse, guiding the guests and handing out umbrellas. Sadly I had no spare hand to carry my umbrella, so I just protected my camera as best I could and photographed the friends and family scuttling from their cars into the church.

Magically the clouds parted as Lisa arrived, like a little angel was watching over her - or maybe she is an angel. Definitely not a witch! ;-)

The wedding ceremony went without a hitch (although of course they got 'hitched'... sorry, rubbish joke...!), although Jake eagerly said 'I do' a little early.

The weather was ideal for the confetti photos and remained decent all the way through the group photos at The Haycock. The heavens opened again just as we were about to do the romantic photos in the garden and by the river. After the first dance I noticed it had stopped and although it was twilight I thought we should race off and see what we could do. It was too dark for me to even focus at times, but I pushed my camera and flash units to their limit and came up with some of my favourite images of the whole day.

So don't worry, rainy doesn't have to ruin your day. Just enjoy yourself and let everyone else take care of you.

Enjoy this small selection of images from the wedding - if you'd like to see the others Lisa and Jake have a link and password to help you access it.
