The Simsons family portraits, Dogsthorpe

The session was actually of the grandparents and the grandchildren, since the parents live in the US and the grandchildren were just over for a couple of weeks visiting.

The family portrait session was all crafted in their beautifully manicured back garden in Dogsthorpe.

I often recommend having family portraits created in your back garden because your garden becomes like an extra character in the photographs - assuming you like your garden!

The Simsons contacted me after receiving one of my vouchers from Amblewood Kennels. This entitled them to a free session and a 15x10 print.

As always, I visited the family a week or so before the photography session so I could get a feel for the style of photography they liked and also advise them on things like clothing, suitable locations and the different products available. Since we decided on the back garden it also gave me a chance to see where the light comes from at different times of the day, so we could plan the best place and time to create the photos.

The Simsons loved their photos when I presented them and decided to use their free 15x10 print as a credit towards a lovely wall portrait. They also invested in some gifts and digital files so they could send the photos to the parents in the US. Here are some of my favourites from the session:
