I met Bill Girard when I photographed an event at Ferrar House in Little Gidding. When chatting with Sue the receptionist my ManKIND project came up in conversation. She recommended Bill because he has Estonian heritage and lived 2 minutes walk around the corner.

We knocked on his door and I explained the project.

Bill is 83 so we felt a little dusting and hoovering would be helpful for him.

In the end I stayed for 3 hours but most of it was taken up with us chatting about his travels and having lunch.

Apparently his grandfather was Estonian and the Commander of Grand Duke Michael's private yacht!

As with so many of the people who get involved in this project he was desperate to do something for me. He was keen to give me books from his extensive library and Guinness from his fridge.

I'm far too polite to decline!
