Photographing the wedding planner’s wedding

24th January 2014
In: News
I’m so proud and pleased to have been chosen by Sarah from Unique Event Planning to photograph her wedding to her fiance Ian on 19th July 2014. Or was it the 17th - I forget (joke!!).

No matter how many weddings I photography it's always a huge honour to be asked. Of course wedding planners know a lot of different wedding vendors, so to be chosen by Sarah gives me extra special pride, especially as we didn't know each other previously. She picked me out of the crowd, like my wife picked me out of the crowd - but that's another story...!

Sarah is wonderfully warm and friendly, but equally organised and professional. Clearly, I'll have to be on my game.

So, what does a wedding planner want from their wedding photographer?
There are a million wedding planners in the world and they all have their own tastes and ideas, but ultimately what they want is what every other bride wants:

  • To truly trust and believe the photographer will create great photos. That's why I offer a money-back guarantee where if you don't LOVE your photos then you get all your money back.
  • To know their photographer will represent them politely, professionally, patiently and with good humour in front of their friends and family. There's nothing worse than a photoGRUMPHER!
  • To feel their photographer cares about what they want and that they listen and make note of what's important to them about their wedding.
  • To feel the photographer cares even more than they do about creating photos that will bring a tear to their eye.
  • To feel comfortable around the photographer, almost like they're another friend at the wedding.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know Sarah and Ian better. I'm going to be scouting their wedding venues with them (St Botolphe Church in Longthorpe, Elton Furs Golf Club and Solstice) so we can plan the best locations for the photography and dream up some creative ideas.

I'm also creating some engagement photos for them. This is a great idea for brides as it gives you an opportunity to get comfortable with your photographer and in front of a camera before the big day comes.

If you're looking for a wedding planner please get in touch with Unique Event Planning as I know you'll find Sarah kind, thoughtful and very professional. Wedding industry professionals are a melting pot of the weird and the wonderful and Sarah definitely falls in the second category. I think I may be a little slice of both...! Maybe as I get to know Sarah more I'll discover she is too, but don't tell her I said that ;-)
