Photographing Drifters

...I don't mean homeless people though - although that is an idea on my radar.

A quick one for you today and frankly it’s mostly me blowing my own trumpet rather than being much help to you, I'm afraid. I’m not a great trumpet tootler, but you have to shout about your achievements in business, so here goes…

At the weekend I photographed Steve Smith (stage name ‘Steve King’ who used to be one of ‘The Drifters’.

The Drifters are a Doo-wop / R&B band who have gone through over 60 members since they formed in 1953. Their most famous member was Ben E King (Of ‘Stand By Me’ fame), but they still continue today.

I’ve also got my foot in the door with the record label Numen Records. Their stable includes Mozez from Zero 7, Nightmares on Wax and Melanie Blatt from the All Saints. I’ve discovered that Mozez is a big fan of The Drifters so I’ve put them in contact with each other.

Using my marketing knowledge and helping people network is all part of my service. Putting them in contact was a small piece of effort for me, but it could make a life changing difference for Steve, who is forging his solo career.

It prompted him to say ‘Wow man, you really are helpful!’
A nicer guy it would be hard to meet. He’s also left me a testimonial on my website.

Next week I’ll go back to helping you and muffle my trumpet for a bit.

I'd love to know about your triumphs by the way.

Until next time

Dan
