Photo of the Month - September 2012

I love photographing pets. I actually started photography by photographing wildlife. However, this photograph of a gentle and loving black labrador called Tia is tinged with sadness for me. The client asked me to photograph her dog urgently as she didn't know how long her beloved pet had left. Three days after this photo was created she had to be put down. At least her owner has a permanent reminder of how lovely her best friend was.

There were quite a few tears when I presented the images for the first time. This meant I was even more touched than usual to receive the following review of my service from the client:

"Last Bank Holiday weekend our elderly, adored labrador, Tia was clearly struggling having had hip problems for some time. At short notice, I wanted to have some special photographs taken. I rang various photographers including Dan and they were all booked. On Saturday, this amazing man, and his lovely family agreed that he should delay a weekend away to help us. He came and gently followed Tia and I for a short walk, after taking some time in the garden, and we now have ten precious and beautiful images of our dear girl to remember her by. Tia passed away the day after the Bank Holiday weekend, and we have Dan to thank for these wonderful photographs."
