Photo of the month - October 2012

27th November 2012
In: News
I have something a bit different for you this time. I was wandering the streets of Peterborough with my camera late one night when I saw this homeless man and his dog. I've made a conscious effort recently to engage people more as I go about my day, rather than just keeping my head down and ignoring the world around me (something you see a lot in London, right?)

I decided I'd chat with him a while. I asked him his name and it was Mikey. His dog was growling and so I got down nice and low to look less threatening. "Your dog keeps you safe eh?" I asked him. "Yes, he won't let anyone go near me unless I'm ok with it", Mikey answered.

I asked him if I could take a photo of him and his dog Jasper and he said it would be fine. So, I created this image and told him I'd find him again and give him the print. The next week I went looking for him and in the same spot I spoke with another homeless man. He knew Mikey and said he's probably see him later, so I passed him this photo.

I hope he got it. I've never seen him since.

I'm glad I've decided to reach out to people more.
