North Yorkshire - Bempton Cliffs

North Yorkshire - Bempton Cliffs - The UK's Best Wildlife Locations
Bempton Cliffs is one of the UK's most accessible seabird spectacles. They are the largest chalk sea cliffs in Eastern Britain and they play host to a wealth of seabirds that wheel and flutter round the vertiginous edifice.

Being sea cliffs the main attraction is of course seabirds and they do provide a real treat.

The birds seem to layer themselves like so many floors in an apartment block:

At the top of Bempton Cliffs you have the beloved puffins. Below them the kittiwakes nest on the windy ledges. Further down still the guillemots make their home. Bempton also has the largest mainland colony of gannets in the UK, with around 7000 exuding noise and smell in equal measure...
