Cornwall - Roughtor

Cornwall - Roughtor - The UK's Best Wildlife Locations
Views over wild and windswept Cornish moorland are assured at Roughtor, on the edge of Bodmin Moor. You can also sometimes catch a glimpse of woodland wildlife too.

From the A39 at Camelford follow the signs to Roughtor.

You may see signs of both badger and otter if you look carefully. The secretive roe deer and larger red deer are often seen at Roughtor early in the morning or during late evening. The red deer will move up out of the valleys as Spring approaches.

The woodlark and nightjar have been spotted here, as have wheatears and redstarts. Buzzards are often seen soaring in the skies above and there is even the possibility of seeing a rarity on migration if you have the patience to sit and wait.
