I think it would be safe to say that Rob, Emma and I hit it off! Here's the testimonial they wrote me...
"I don't think I can ever put into words how amazing Dan is!! His work is beyond brilliant, his ideas are amazingly creative and his personality is fabulous!! Having Dan there on our special day made it even more special and we cannot thank him enough for all his hard work and support. Everyone who has either been with him on our wedding day or seen our wedding photos cannot praise him enough. I now have the pleasure of calling him a fab friend and cannot wait to get him back to do more work for us!" Xxx
I remember giving them a testimonial right back, too. They have 5 fabulous children who were the most polite and thoughtful children you could ever wish to meet. The 10 year old Olivia was checking I was ok for drinks!
The morning started with a huge surprise... X-Factor runner up, Nicholas MacDonald was due to sing at the ceremony and in the evening.
The look on Olivia's face when I mentioned I'd seen him downstairs rehearsing was priceless. THE Nicholas MacDonald!! Really? Here? Check the photograph below where she has tears in her eyes.
The morning was so relaxed, it felt like we were getting ready to go out for a party. Drinks, jokes and silliness, but no stress whatsoever.
Emma's father had sadly passed away so her brother Gary took on the duty. Emma carried a locket with her father's photograph inside, attached to her shoe.... ...so he was still with her as she walked down the aisle.
The ceremony was awash with tears, but I love a tearful wedding - it shows how much you truly care. Seeing all 5 children lined up and looking on with love during the ceremony was one of my favourite moments of the day. Shortly followed by another favourite when Emma stressed how Rob should OBEY during the vows!
At the end of the ceremony a chimney sweep scuttled up the aisle and gave Emma a kiss. Yep, you read that right! Another little wedding tradition I'd never heard about. There are millions. Look them up! But hey, it made a fantastic photograph.
The group photographs were typically filled with laughter and silliness, that were sometimes interrupted by moments of sweet tenderness, usually with their movie star children.
The speeches were something else!
Their son Harry had everyone in tears as he told his dad how much he loved him. In turn Rob had everyone in tears of laughter as his speech included an incredibly elaborate video that had clearly taken weeks to create. It showed him and his best man scouring the country for gifts for their wedding guests.
Nicholas MacDonald rocked it in the evening and I hung around into the night to soak up the atmosphere.
When I first met Rob and Emma I asked them to describe their wedding in 3 words. They said: Relaxed. Fun. Family oriented. It certainly was. So I'll forgive them for using 4 words! ;-)
Below you can enjoy a small sample of the photographs from the day.
