Wedding photos at Thorpe Hall - Sian and Michelle Angell support a local charity

Thorpe Hall is a hospice run by Sue Ryder which is starting to hire out their beautiful premises and gardens to wedding couples.

I met Sian and Michelle on a roasting hot summer's day and we chatted about their wedding by their very own pool. I loved the fact they wanted their wedding to support a local charity.

Fortunately I was hired right away, so I went along to Thorpe Hall to find out more about the charity and plan the photography. Scouting a venue is always part of my wedding photography process as it makes things go so much smoother on the big day, when you have a plan.

I ended up volunteering for the charity and told them to let me know whenever they need a photographer. I've since photographed their beautiful 'lights of love' celebration - a happy event that everyone is welcome to attend.

The bridal preparations
Sian was staying at the Crown Inn, in Elton. I arrived at 9am to photograph her bridal preparations and noticed Sian's sister entering one of the bedrooms which had a smashed pane of glass in the door. Oh no, I hope they've not been burgled, I thought. It turned out that late the previous night they had popped outside for a cigarette and shut the door without bringing their key. There were no staff left on site and no answer on the emergency number, so they did the only thing they could... ...stoved a rock through the window and broke in.

Although the bill was £200+ I reassured them the memory and stories of this little adventure would be priceless in years to come!

The wedding ceremony at Thorpe Hall
Thorpe Hall is one of the grandest wedding venues in Peterborough and the ceremony room was beautiful. The building itself is regal but light and airy and the gardens are stunning with great opportunities for beautiful romantic images.

The ceremony was very emotional and flecked with tears of joy. We all had a little chuckle though when there was a slight stumble over the vows and "my awful wedded wife" slipped out. Again, another great story!

The group photos were created as a biting winter wind sliced through us. Many a chortle was had when Sian pointed out my nipples were rather prominent due to the freezing temperatures. I've made a mental note to use a thermal vest next time! But hey, anything that gets my clients smiling is fine by me.

I ensured the romantic photos included lots of cuddling to keep Sian and Michelle as warm as possible. Let's call it 'penguin posing!'

The Reception at Elton Furze Golf Club
Sian (Michelle will happily admit Sian took the lead on most of the plans!) had clearly spent a huge amount of time on the decor, favours, centre pieces etc. The reception looked fantastic, especially with the extra pizzazz of the Christmas decorations.
Again, Sian took centre stage with the speeches, with hers outlasting all the others combined. She had everyone in the palm of her hand as she weaved an intricate blend of emotional and irreverent tales.
Sadly Sian and Michelle moved to Bath a few months before the wedding, so I may not get the chance to see this hilarious pair of loveable 'Angells' again. 'Angell' - what an awesome name for a devilishly fun loving couple. xxx
