Water Buffalo at a waterhole

Water buffalo at at a waterhole in Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. Notice how the adults have ensured the calf is in the middle of the group, safe from harm. After this group moved away from the waterhole they were ambushed by a group of 3 lions who managed to single out one of the adults. Amazingly the buffalo managed to fend off all three lions and return to the safety of the group.
