Norfolk - Seal Island and Blakeney Point

The common seal colonies off the north coast of Norfolk are the largest in the world. Grey seals too jostle for choice positions while basking in the sun - or rain!
SEAL ISLAND
This is a strip of sand in the middle of The Wash. You can catch a boat from Hunstanton beach (just off the A149) for about £8.
BLAKENEY POINT
About 25 minutes drive further east along the A149 you get to Morston. If you drive down to the quay you can book a boat trip to Blakeney Point to see the seals. Again, you can see both common and grey seals there. If you go around Jun / July you will get to see the common seal pups. However, if you want to see the Grey seals at either Blakeney Point or Seal Island you will need to go during the winter as they are out at sea the rest of the year.
At Blakeney Point you can also see the Sandwich Tern colony along with gulls and cormorants passing over.
Donna Nook in Lincolnshire is another good spot for seal spotting. If that sounds closer to home then have a look at the details on Donna Nook which are also included in this portfolio.
