Pheasants are not native to the UK, despite being widespread and in large numbers. Pheasants were first introduced to the UK by the Romans who brought them over from Asia.
WHERE TO SEE THEM
Pheasants can be seen across most of the UK, apart from the far north and west of Scotland. They are less common in upland and urban areas and are usually seen in the open countryside near woodland edges, copses and hedgerows.
