Here's some fox facts for you:

The average lifespan of a fox in the wild is 2 to 4 years

Foxes usually have 4-5 pups, born in the spring.

A group of foxes is called a “skulk.”

Foxes are primarily carnivores and primarily feed upon rodents such as rabbits, mice, squirrels, etc.

The fox is the smallest member of the dog family.

A baby fox is referred to as a “kit.”

Red foxes live around the world in many diverse habitats including forests, grasslands, mountains, deserts and cities. They have become the most widespread dogs in the wild, having overtaken grey wolves to the top spot.

Red foxes are widespread across Europe (but absent from Iceland), Canada, USA, and in Asia from Japan to Indochina. They were introduced to Australia.

Both parents care for their young through the summer before they are able to strike out on their own in the fall.

Foxes stalk their prey just like cats. Also like cats, they often play with their catch before they kill it. If they aren’t hungry, they may even catch mice just to play with, then let them go when they are done.

A fox’s hearing is so sharp they can hear a watch ticking 40 yards away.

The number of foxes in the UK is about 250,000.

A fox's territory may extend from 25 to 5,000 acres (10-2,000 hectares), depending on the habitat.
