Kent - Swale Estuary
The Swale Estuary is a 13 mile channel between Kent and the Isle of Sheppey. It also sits between the Medway and the Thames estuaries and it's a paradise for birdwatchers.

WHERE IS IT?
Follow the M2 or A249 towards Sittingbourne. Go through Oare Village near Faversham and take a right to Harty Ferry at the Three Mariners pub. It is a further 2km to the Swale estuary.

WHAT'S THERE?
Birds are the main attraction and the species include:

Short eared owls
Marsh harriers
Hen harriers
Peregrine falcons
Merlin
Snipes
Redshanks
Curlews
Bitterns
Oyster catcher
Kingfisher
